Here’s proof that big growth happens when you act, in spite of fear.

My 7th book, Just Say Yes! reveals how amazing things happen when you face your fears, in your personal life, and for entrepreneurs seeking higher levels of success.

In 2016, when Stephanie and I talked about selling our home of nearly 30 years and living full time on a boat, I will admit that as exciting this adventure was to dream about, pulling the trigger for real was the source of a few sleepless nights.

Here’s just a brief look at the fears I faced about living and working on a boat – a major life change.

Stephanie and I found a boat that we absolutely loved.

As the purchase date approached, I remember thinking, “Wow, this is going to be great!”

I was truly excited, until I looked up!

When our future boat was pulled from the water on a big lift to be inspected, I remember standing under the boat looking up, and feeling very small.

I thought to myself, “I can’t drive a boat this big, what the hell are we thinking?”

Thankfully we “Just Said Yes” and kept moving forward.

In April 2017, we departed our home port in northern Maryland for a 4-day trip to Rhode Island.

Yes, our first trip was 330 miles and this meant venturing for the first time into the Atlantic Ocean.

Up to this point, our longest trip in our first boat was about 20 miles on the Chesapeake Bay.

Nervous as I was, when we were 3 miles off the coast of New Jersey and the sun was shining, the seas were calm.

I thought – “Yeah, I got this, I am the captain of this big boat.”

Then, a mere 3 hours later the sun disappeared and the wind and waves both increased.

Even though this boat is nearly 50 feet, we were bobbing and weaving like a cork in a washing machine.

The smile on my face went away.

It was replaced with a serious look of concern.

As I watched for the next big wave, I could not believe they were hitting the bow with enough force to splash our windshield, which is about 18’ high.

My thoughts quickly turned from, “Yeah, I got this” to, “What the hell were we thinking?!”

An hour later we approached the entrance to New York Harbor and the wind and waves began to subside, we looked to our left and spotted Lady Liberty – what a beautiful sight!

A few days later, we arrived in Rhode Island and Stephanie and I looked at each other and said, “Can you believe what we just did?!”

We were so proud of this huge accomplishment, and honestly, we both felt alive, victorious, and pretty darn proud of ourselves for “Just Saying Yes” and taking on a big challenge that was so far outside of our comfort zone.

As an entrepreneur who may have fears about what it takes to grow a larger and more profitable business, you have to know two things.

  1. Fear is a daily part of your journey. It never goes away. You just learn to kick its ass and not let it stop you from going on an amazing adventure. The alternative is to stay in your ‘safe and predictable’ life, talking about the how you are stretching yourself, creating big plans, changing your mindset to create the success you want – seemingly always getting ready to “pull the trigger.” BORING!
  2. All big growth happens outside of your comfort zone. Becoming financially independent so you can live your dream lifestyle requires big, bold action. Creating a Dream Business is not easy. It doesn’t happen without commitment, persistence and an investment of both time and money. I can tell you from personal experience, that desire – even a strong “big as the whole world desire” – does not get the job done.

Most people have desire.

But few people have the courage to move past desire and step up and do the hard things necessary to experience a Dream Lifestyle.

How about you?

Do you desire more growth?

Do you desire to grow a Dream Business capable of supporting your Dream Lifestyle?

If the answer is yes, then I encourage you to face your fears and “Just Say Yes”.

Create your Dream Business and Live Your Dream Lifestyle.

If I can help you, please message me, I’d love to support your dream!
