How you define success for yourself is completely up to you.

Your success and dream lifestyle are probably not like mine, however – you must be crystal clear in your understanding that you have to be willing to put in the work.

No one hands it to you.

When I started as an entrepreneur, I knew in my heart and soul that I could be successful, but I was determined to do it my way.

I realize now, that was code language for me not wanting to do some things that were clearly outside of my comfort zone.

But the hungrier I got, the more impatient I became.

One big game changer was what I call, a divine intervention of “tough love” and thankfully, it finally began to change my success journey, for the better.

I often refer to this encounter as my most embarrassing moment as an entrepreneur.

Here’s how this very embarrassing episode took place.

I was part of a mastermind group when I was starting my Dream Business Mastermind and Coaching Program.

There were other successful coaches in the group.

At the time, my mastermind and coaching program was doing okay, but I wanted it to grow faster.

I shared with the group my desire to grow my coaching business faster when a mentor, someone whom I had great respect for, got in my face – literally and figuratively – and said,

“Jim, let me ask you a question. How is it that you feel that you deserve, or are entitled to the same level of success, as your peers and other people in the business, yet you aren’t willing to do the same things that they’re doing to grow their coaching businesses? Explain to me how that works for you?”

Wow, did I get red-faced!

Looking back, I now refer to this as my Mr. T – Rocky moment.

Remember when Mr. T got in Rocky’s face before the big fight.

It had to be intimidating to say the least, but Rocky learned from that lesson, and I learned something about “manning up” and stepping up to do what is required to grow my Dream Business.

I learned from this very embarrassing moment that if I truly wanted to grow my own Dream Business, I had to put my fears, phobias and “rather not dos” aside – and instead Just Say Yes.

It was painful and embarrassing. But… it was exactly the tough love I needed.

On the long flight home, I made up my mind that, never again, would I be put in that position, where my own “stuff” – my own shortcomings – are put in my face like that.

I had to own my shortcomings, fix them, and move on.

So, I learned how to become a speaker; I learned how to create powerful marketing videos, I started my own podcast, I wrote and published multiple books, and I also started putting on my own 3-day live events.

I also became proficient at doing podcast interviews – in fact, I also did over 300 interviews as a guest expert on other podcasts!

I now have no fear doing any of the things that were once very, very uncomfortable to me.

As it relates to growing my Dream Business, my own discomfort level became a “too friggin’ bad” perspective in my mind.

I Just Said Yes and jumped in with both feet.

Do you have fears that are holding back the success you so badly desire?
