When you grow a successful business, you’re going to have more demands on your time.

More people will want to connect with you, meet with you, interview you — and yes, more people will want to “pick your brain!”

If you enjoy serving others, your instincts may be to say “yes” to every opportunity that comes your way.

After all, it feels good to help people, and you don’t want to seem arrogant, right?

The reality is, the more success you create, the more disciplined and focused you must be.

You must learn to say “no” more often.

Growing a successful business means being able to provide financial freedom for you and your family.

It is likely you may also be responsible for the jobs and livelihood of your team members.

This kind of responsibility requires courage and daily discipline.

The bigger your business, the more focused and disciplined you must be.

Most entrepreneurs that I know, already have very full days, and they work many hours.

One simple, yet effective, mindset shift that I first learned from Melanie Benson, a phenomenal mindset coach, is this.

When presented with a new opportunity, ask yourself this question: “If I say ‘Yes’ to this, what am I prepared to say ‘No’ to?”

This simple question helps you clarify, and bring into focus, whether or not this opportunity is worthy of even 5 minutes of your time.

Just like successful leaders learn to let go and delegate, so too must they have the courage and discipline to say no.
