Successfully marketing and growing a small business is like being a farmer.

In order to reap a big harvest, you need to plant a lot of seeds.

The first step in marketing your business is to get attention – planting a seed.

Without effectively getting attention, the best product or service in the world will fall flat.

Create a great brand, and then consistently and persistently get in front of as many prospective customers as possible.

This is the equivalent of planting a seed.

However, you don’t immediately go from seed planting to a huge harvest.

There is an important middle step, and this is where many small business owners drop the ball.

They go from introduction, “Hi I’m Bob” – to presenting their big offer.

This is not only off putting, it skips a crucial middle step: nurturing the seed.

Nurture your seeds with a consistent and steady diet of information.

This is known as content marketing, and it is designed to build credibility and establish trust.

Since people consume information many different ways, highly success entrepreneurs build trust and establish value across many different forms of media.

My Dream Business Mastermind Members successfully grow their businesses using what I call my ‘Million Dollar’ Platform.

This multi-faceted approach includes websites, landing pages, books, podcasts, blogs, and videos, just to name a few!

Eventually, using the right strategy, the seeds will grow, and you’ll begin to make sales.

However, these initial transactions are just that – initial sales, and there’s much more to be harvested!

Higher profits and massive growth come from effectively growing these brand new, single-transaction relationships.

This can be done by showing gratitude, and staying in regular and frequent communication.

A monthly print and mail newsletter is a great way to stay top of mind and showcase the other ways you can serve your customers.

The easiest sale you’ll make is to a previous customer who has already purchased from you.

Yet far too many business owners celebrate initial transactions and then focus all attention on getting more new customers, where they have to start all over, building trust and value, again and again.

Big mistake.

If you need help growing your small business, consider planting that first seed now.
