Is newsletter marketing still effective? Most business owners prefer to use email newsletters over printed newsletters because they believe it is cost efficient.  Well it is, if you think about it. But that is not the only matter to be considered. In the world of marketing, the best strategy is always the one that raises sales and has a higher response rate. Hence, cheaper is not always better.

The Downside of Emails

Although email newsletters can spread like wildfire, that does not always assure you a high response rate. While it easily gets into the hands of your customers, do they actually spend some time to read about it? Fact is, people prioritize emails that they find very important such as those related to work or personal life. The rest are left in the inbox to be read during some spare time. If there’s not much time to spare, they just might end up in the trash folder.

Why Print Newsletters?

A print newsletter on the other hand may cost a lot because of the printing and mailing. But it has a bigger chance of being read over and over again, anytime, anywhere. It is easier to review this kind of newsletter because it is handy. A printed material is also better for the eyes than the ones on a computer screen.

If printed newsletters have interesting graphics, a catchy headline and a reader-friendly layout, customers will most likely check it out. Email newsletters don’t have that advantage. It will appear in the inbox like all the other emails. Customers will only know the inside of the email IF they decide to open it.

Remember, fast delivery doesn’t assure effectiveness. The same can be said for cost cutting. Financial risks are always present in a business – which is true for print newsletters. The key is to choose a marketing strategy that is worth the risk.

So, is newsletter marketing still effective? Yes as long as you know what you’re doing. If you are not sure where to start, you can enlist the services of newsletter designers and content creators. On the other hand, you can use a template that allows you to design and print newsletters DIY.
