William Jennings Bryan once said, “Destiny is no matter of chance. It is a matter of choice. It is not a thing to be waited for; it is a thing to be achieved.”

For entrepreneurs, the achievement of your success depends on your mindset.

If you don’t believe you can succeed, you won’t.

It’s that simple.

In addition to mindset, there are common habits of highly successful people that you would be wise to emulate.

As it’s said, ‘Success leaves tracks,” so follow those tracks rather than reinventing the wheel.

On that note, I’m going to share 5 habits successful entrepreneurs do every single day.

They are in no particular order, but each will help put you on the road to success rather than the road to slow-to-no-growth.

Number 1: Get Up Early

Maybe you get up at 7:00, or even 6:00 in the morning.

Let me tell you, that’s not early.

The successful folks and C-level executives typically get up at 5:00, 4:30, or even 4:00.

That’s because getting up early is a way to get things done.

If you have a family, this will more than likely let you work with fewer interruptions early in the morning, and allow you to have time at the other end of the day to spend with them.

Balance here is key.

Number 2: Exercise

Exercise is really, really important. It gets you going and creates energy.

Here’s a little secret: Energy begets energy.

So, if you want more of it to get through your day, start with some exercise in the morning.

Additionally, for a lot of entrepreneurs, exercise frees their mind for greater creativity.

Many of my coaching clients have told me that they get some of their best ideas during a workout, so take advantage of this.

Number 3: Brain Power

You’ve got to feed your mind and remember that your brain is the world’s greatest computer.

What’s true of computers is true of your brain: Garbage in, garbage out.

So I encourage you to focus on what’s important, and spend your time on activities that feed your mind positively and power up your brain.

Don’t waste your time on pointless activities. You know what sucks your time and wastes it… television, social media, email jokes.

Read books that make a difference, and feed your mind with positive material.

And if you do it first thing in the morning, it sets a great tone for the rest of your day.

Number 4: Express Gratitude

Being a man of faith, I always go to prayer first thing in the morning and give thanks for all the blessings in my life.

So, first of all, my health, my relationship with God, my wife, my children, my grandson, my home, and everything else.

I go through this whole list of things that I’m thankful for and recount and recite them.

I think simply doing that means that you’ve got a lot going on and lets you focus on the positive in your life.

It doesn’t matter what your faith may be. Recount all the things you’re grateful for on a daily basis.

Take it from someone who’s been in a very, very, very, very low place.

Even when you’re in a low place, you can find things to be thankful for.

At my worst when I was unemployed, heavily in debt, and fighting cancer, I had the most amazing support system starting with my wife, Stephanie, my children, my parents, everybody.

I still had a home and we never missed a meal.

There are things that you can find to be grateful for even when you’re in a tough spot.

Number 5: Be Bold

Successful entrepreneurs DECIDE to take bold, decisive action.

For example: Don’t think about adding one new client this week; think about adding ten new ones.

I learned a lesson long ago about the power of zero: Add a zero to whatever numerical goal you have.

Not one client, ten; not ten blog posts, 100; not $100,000 in revenue, $1,000,000.

If you’re going to play, play big or go home.

Be decisive and DECIDE to take action.

Form a plan, have a goal, make a decision, and then go act on it.

Closing Thoughts

There you have it, 5 habits that successful entrepreneurs practice every day.

If you can see the benefit of following these practices, remember there is a top 1% for a reason.

Also remember: Don’t reinvent the wheel.

The path to success has already been blazed by others, so study highly successful people and learn what habits they used to achieve.

Define what success means to you and then develop the habits that will get you there rather than leaving you on the road to slow-to-no-growth.
